April’s EIA Oil Growth Projections

Normally near the end of the month an update on world oil output is posted here. However this month the EIA’s world oil report will appear too close to the US monthly report. For this month, in its place, this space will be filled with the three oil growth projections that the EIA published in April along with other oil production related information. The world report will be posted after the US report, later in May.

Short Term energy Outlook (STEO)

The STEO provides projections for the next 13 – 24 months for US C + C and NGPLs production. The April 2021 report presents EIAʼs updated oil output and price projections to December 2022.

US January Oil Production Continues Slow Slide

After the production charts, an analysis of three EIA monthly reports that project future US production is provided. The charts below are updated to January 2020 for the 10 largest US oil producing states.

The creaming curve for lease sales in Brazil looks like it is turning towards the asymptote overall. Unfortunately there is insufficient data provided to allow land and marine leasing to be separated but I expect that the curve for land is close to the limit but that for marine areas is barely half way. The average take up of offers has remained high, which suggests APB, the Brazilian authority in charge, is discerning about what it offers.
